The population pyramid in Việt Nam has has a number of people in 15-30 age around 30% of the total population. This is a strength point to be able to promote social activities and community to be strongly developed, contributing greatly to the development of economics, politics, culture, society and education. In recent years, there are many community activities in which youth dominates and creates a ripple effect in the community.
Firstly, I want to talk about the broad participation of youth in community activities not only within the Country in which to expand globally. It can be said that the solidarity of youth has never spread aswide and fast as now. Media and social networking do blurred geographic distance and pull everyone closer together. Young people taking part in social event often share pictures in social networks and new articles are motivation and inspirition for other young people to jump into participating in such activities. People quickly get detail information of the community project and decide to join together, pushing the number of young people joining up wider. For example, Color Me Run contest attracted thousands of young participants, social networking sites and newspapers covered with color images of this contest. Get Wet - Songkran Water and Music Festival held recently in 2016 also recorded a number of participants up to several hundred. In the field of academics and education, the knowledge contest for youth was held so many parts of the world, and young people in Vietnam are honored to be knowned as Khoa Phan - winner of 2016 with devices VietChallenge support the spine has crossed 3,000 competitors from all around the world. Some other projects such as: Climate change conferences, ASEAN-India youth exchange program, The World Languages Forum, ASEAN Youth Forum, ... also noted the participation of the young population of Vietnam. These are typical examples for the participation of the young people of Vietnam in many community activities around the world. I personally admire the contributions that you have brought to local and global communities.
And of course, referring to community activities cannot fail to mention a wide range of volunteer projects where the young people have left good impression in the hearts of many people. Those volunteers are building houses of gratitude for the elderly; literacy training for poor children; warm clothing for children in the highlands of volunteer groups throughout the country. Young people tend to engage in teaching to poor children in the summer, the time of their vacation. In winter, especially in the North of Vietnam, the volunteers such as donating warm clothes for children in highland became an annual project by the young people, they do all works from collected clothes until delivery. It is clear that this community project because more and more young people are joining and creates a strong ripple effect in the community.
Secondly, besides the large community with a lot of people around the Country, there is a small group which is a set of people who have the same interests. Again I mentioned the benefits of social networking, this is where the people connected by the same hobbies, interests, passions become a team. Although this small group has individual not systematic activities, the relationship between the members is very strong and close. These young volunteers team up to support very specific circumstances. For example, Green Life Group has 12 members, supports the elderly in the Quang Nam province harvesting the pinealpple, the English club helps foreign tourists in Hoi An, the mini-farm model to plant vegetables of 5-students-groupsvientai Danang Polytechnic University ... The small group activities go into the specific circumstances in different regions makes the richness of community activities.
Besides that, there is still a part of people who is absolutely not involved in any social activities. In addition to the enthusiasm of students to participate in community events that I mention above, there are students who spend most of their time playing games, learning only on the books, for the useless activities or even spend time only sleeping all day. They got used to being in a familiar and safety surrounding. When I asked they why they do not participate in outsde activities or volunteering project, they said that is a waste of time and money which did bring anything. They are constantly at home, locked himself in the 4-walls and ignoring all that is going on outside. How to inspire these young people to learn about the benefits of participation in community activities? How can they be changed? How can make them take the courage to overcome challenges when stepping out of the safety zone? These questions are still in my mind.
In conclusion, about the participation of young people in community activities, there are more positive aspects than negative ones. I really admire the youth who shows its talent and commitment with society. I seriously hope that all youth people will join a social community to build a Việt Nam strong and prosperous, civilized and peaceful everywhere.
