To ease the burden that measurement imposes on the technical staff, tools should be acquired or developed in-house to facilitate the data collection/analysis process. The tools can simplify data collection, increase the accuracy of the data, reduce time expended, and support consistency and completeness. For the testing domain tools such as coverage analyzers (see Chapter 14) can greatly facilitate measurement of the degree of coverage during testing. Tools that perform statistical analysis, draw plots, and output trend reports are also very useful
